It is important for students to be responsible when engaging in ICT’s. According to Education Queensland (2011) the learning manager must educate students about safe, legal and ethical practices. Ethical practices include acknowledging the ownership of all information and images used and what constitutes plagiarism and digital theft. Safety includes but is not limited to use of password protected identity and limiting the amount of personal information that is disclosed online. Students are also responsible for etiquette online this can be known as netiquette, always showing respect to others and self whilst engaging with the internet.
Throughout the unit the learning manager must ensure that the students understand and follow these guidelines. Explain to students the reasons for these guidelines for their own and others protection and demonstrate to students how to uphold these guidelines by practicing them at all times.
